Pitt River foggy adventure

This is the area in north Pitt Meadow, south of Grant Narrows Regional Park. On this overcast day with a little bit of rain, this area supplied the exact scenario I was hoping to photograph. I have my camera covered in a plastic bag and just kept shooting with no concern about rain drops.

A Bridge in PoCo

A rather plain looking bridge in my neighbourhood in Port Coquitlam. I was delighted to see a train passed by when I was wandering in the area. I teased out as much details and structure as I could to make it less realistic but to provide a cartoon-like feeling to the photographs.

Art-in-the-City

The copper colour cylinder caught my eyes. It sets up the contrast for the modern city at the background. The moment I took this photo, I knew I would turn it into something like this. I love to see "art-in-the-city."

Colony Farm

Ich liebe es! I love this photograph! Colony Farm in Coquitlam in the suburb of Vancouver, near where I live is a huge piece of reserved farmland. My townhouse faces this farm, so I look at it everyday. On that day, I was looking for some subdued scenery for some earthly-toned photos. I think I have it!

Lynn Canyon Waterstream

Just cross the Lynn Valley suspension bridge and walk west, one will find stream of water rushing down hill. The sound it makes is beautiful, not to mention the scenery it creates. This photograph was taken in a February morning before the sun fully comes up. Even at this hour 9:35 a.m., the sun has already shone brightly on the other side on the river bank. Everyone who lives in Vancouver will welcome the winter sun with love, just not the photographer just happens to take photographs of waterstream. The bright sun will spoil the mystery looks of this scene, so I took several photographs rather quickly.

Vancouver Skyline at Dusk

Vancouver winter is famous for its rain. in that light, it is a gem when the sun shines this bright in a winter evening. I spotted this angle and thought it would be a nice photo. There are times I hope a clear sky would be perfect. But the dark cloud added a rich background for this photograph which I like. It was already past 5 o'clock in the evening and it was cold. But I dressed up appropriately to stand a little less than 2 hours outside. I keep doing long-time exposure from dusk until totally dark.

Port Coquitlam Trail

I took this photo on a winter morning. While I was driving my children to school, I spotted a huge fog hovering a large area. I lamented not able to come out earlier so that I could take the early morning fog better. After dropping them to school, I returned home; and not knowing what was left, I took my camera and a tripod and went to the river bank. It was foggy. As I descended further, I found the view very pleasing. The fog basically hide the other side of the river bank and the result was the logs floating on water were the only things that could be seen. Because it was a sunny day, the morning sun and its radiant beams shone through the fog created a mystical feel and magical look. At the time of the shoot, I thought these photos may be good for B&W. But as they turned out, I love to keep the soft colour. The camera and the computor software may be able to enhance the photograph a little bit, but there is no comparison to how nature creates magical scenes for our enjoyment.

Rocky Point Park

Rocky Point Park in Port Moody is a park I drive by everyday. This park is naturally beautiful. The scenery keeps changing according to season. No wonder I have many photographs taken in this park. I took this photo on a January evening - it was cold but sunny, about 2 degree celsius. I went there just slightly earlier before picking up my wife from work. My original intention on this cold winter late afternoon was to take some long-time exposure of some of the rocks in the park and turn the photographs into B&W. Surprisingly, I found this reflection very loving. I decided not to turn this one into B&W precisely for the love of the warm reflection in colour. This photo was taken around 4:30 p.m.
